Stephen Wood, MD, FAAP

Medical | Pediatrics

Stephen Wood, MD, FAAP joined Community Health Pediatrics because he was attracted to the diversity of our patients and the opportunity to focus on patient care and wellness starting at birth. With a desire to address the whole person, primary care has always been his passion – caring for children from infancy through young adulthood.

As part of his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Wood works closely with families, seeing hospitalized patients and newborns, as well as medically complex children with genetic diseases and autism. He appreciates and takes advantage of Community Health’s embedded team of Case Managers who assist families in navigating the medical systems.

Raised in Connecticut, Dr. Wood completed an undergraduate degree in philosophy at Gordon College in Wenham, MA, and a medical degree from Penn State University College of Medicine in Hershey, PA. With a young family and relatives in upstate New York, Dr. Wood was drawn back to New England after residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He joined Community Health over 12 years ago.

Dr. Wood is an exercise enthusiast who says, “exercise is manna for the brain and the body.” As a cyclist, mountain biker, and Nordic skier, he appreciates outdoor activities and Vermont’s breathtaking landscapes. He enjoys spending time with his family and occasional traveling adventures.

Philosophy of Care

It’s a privilege to be part of the health care of individuals from infancy to young adulthood, addressing the whole person and the interaction with their family. I believe that a child who is understood and loved dearly by his or her parents is usually the best prognosis for health and wellness.
