A graduate of the University of Colorado Master of Science in Nursing, Melissa McKibben, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C worked in emergency departments and urgent care for two decades in Colorado, Rhode Island, Vermont, and New Hampshire. McKibben also serves as an intermittent volunteer employee with the National Disaster Medical System as a member of their Disaster Medical Assistance Team, having been deployed most recently to disaster locations in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. A native of Rhode Island with family “scattered throughout New England,” McKibben relocated to Vermont after 20 years in Colorado. She prefers the cooler climates where she can enjoy cross country skiing, gravel biking, and hiking with her two Bernese Mountain Dogs.
“Healthcare has been a calling for me since I was a child, and I started working as an EMT at 18.”
Philosophy of Care
Her philosophy of care is “to treat everyone as I would like to be treated, to care for someone as if they are my own family member, and do the best I possibly can, to assure that the patient’s needs are being met. Acute management is my wheelhouse,” she said. At Community Health, she looks forward to providing high quality evidence-based care to patients in a rural environment.
