Courtney Cioffredi, MS, JD

Behavioral Health | Psychotherapy

Courtney brings a varied professional background to her work as a mental health clinician, with experience in vocational rehabilitation, disability services, higher education, and law. She grew up in New Hampshire, spending much of her childhood in Vermont with family, and later lived in Florida, New York City, Washington, DC, and western Virginia before returning to Vermont. Outside of work, Courtney enjoys spending time outdoors with her dog, especially hiking, camping, biking, and running, and she has a strong interest in mind-body practices and the role that movement, recreation, and time in nature can play in overall well-being.

Philosophy of Care

Courtney’s philosophy of care is grounded in curiosity, collaboration, and respect for each person’s lived experience. She believes people make sense within the context of what they have experienced, the environments they have lived in, and the ways they have learned to adapt. Rather than viewing symptoms or coping strategies simply as problems to eliminate, Courtney works with clients to understand what those patterns may be communicating and whether they are still serving them. Her approach is person-centered, strengths-based, and attentive to the connection between emotional and physical well-being, including nervous-system and mind-body responses to stress. Courtney sees therapy as a collaborative process and believes clients are the experts on their own lives. Depending on each person’s needs and interests, therapy may include mindfulness, grounding, nervous-system regulation, exploration of patterns and relationships, and practical strategies for navigating everyday challenges. She values authenticity, humor, curiosity, and direct communication and strives to create a space where clients can feel comfortable showing up as themselves while receiving perspective, support, clinical knowledge, and thoughtful challenge.
