A UTI is an infection in the urinary tract that affects the kidneys, bladder and the connecting tubes. UTIs are most commonly caused by bacteria, but they can also be caused by fungus.
What are the symptoms of a urinary tract infection?
Common symptoms of UTI include:
- sudden and frequent urges to urinate
- burning, irritation, or pain as you urinate
- a feeling of not emptying your bladder completely
- a feeling of pressure or pain in your abdomen or lower back
- thick or cloudy urine – it may contain blood +
- fever
- confused or disoriented
- fatigue
