Eitan Sobel, MD, is the Medical Director for Community Health’s Nursing Home Service Line.
Dr. Sobel directs the Nursing Home Service Line’s network of medical professionals who support patients who require both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation at three facilities in Rutland.
A physical for over three decades, Dr. Sobel moved to Vermont after a long career as a hospitalist in New York, Massachusetts, Kansas, and Missouri. In Vermont, he’s worked both as a hospitalist at Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC) and as a nursing home provider. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Sobel completed residencies in internal medicine at Salem Hospital in Salem, MA and Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY after graduating medical school at the Technion Faculty of Medicine in Haifa, Israel.
For most of his medical professional life, he worked in hospitals caring for acute hospitalized patients. Now he focuses more on rehab and nursing home care, enjoying the interaction with people in the sub-acute setting where he follows their progress toward recovery.
