Samantha Smart, MBA, serves as the Director of IT at Community Health, where she also serves as the organization’s Security Officer and co-chairs the EMR Committee. With extensive experience in healthcare IT, she has worked across both payer and provider organizations, including nearly a decade at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and almost four years at Cigna.
Samantha brings deep expertise in IT project management, application development, cybersecurity oversight, and system optimization, with a strong focus on data integrity, governance, and aligning electronic health record technologies with compassionate, patient centered care. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Pre Med from the University of New Hampshire and earned her MBA with a concentration in Healthcare Management from the University of Hartford.
As the parent of a child with unilateral hearing loss who uses assistive listening devices (ALDs), Samantha brings a deeply personal understanding of the importance of accessible, coordinated, and inclusive care. This lived experience reinforces her commitment to leveraging technology to reduce barriers, support clinical teams, and ensure patients receive the right care at the right time.
Originally from the Seacoast Region of New Hampshire and a proud Vermonter for the past 16 years, Samantha lives in Castleton, Vermont, with her husband and two children. Outside of work, she enjoys outdoor recreation, including hiking, camping, boating, gardening, and skiing, and values time spent supporting her children’s creative and athletic pursuits.
