Katherine Cardenas, LICSW, is a licensed clinical social worker at Community Health Behavioral Health, where she provides therapy services for adults individually, couples or within group therapy. With 22 years of experience as a therapist, her background includes working with nonprofits, private practice and over eighteen years in the criminal justice system. Her expertise is in behavioral and addiction disorders focusing on, substance use, gambling, criminal behaviors, and pornography. Katherine has had the privilege of leadership in several organizations including non profit and government agencies. She had the honor of leading a team to develop the first in prison female DWI program in Texas and participated in multiple studies to assist in advocating for future treatment programs in lieu of incarceration. Advocating for those who do not have a voice due to discrimination, circumstances, and/or financial status has always been a core passion in the work she has focused upon. Katherine enjoys long walks and short hikes, being out in nature, yoga, watching documentaries, funny shows and finds joy in spending time with her dog Karma.

I maintain a client-centered approach, focusing on each client's unique life journey and needs. I am honored to be part of their journey and passionate about serving under served communities, approaching each patient with a trauma-informed perspective. My main goal is to create a safe space that my clients can share their life story within.
