Judy A. Nelson, MD, FAAP

Medical | Pediatrics

Judy Nelson, MD, FAAP has seen Rutland area families for more than 30 years since she began practicing pediatric medicine in Vermont. In 2011, she joined Community Health Pediatrics where she appreciates the broad network of health and wellness services available to patients including psychiatry and dental which are hugely important for children. She’s also interested in addressing childhood obesity challenges and treatments.

Her patients in the early years of her practice are now often parents themselves. This gives her a heartwarming perspective on the children and families she has seen as they grow and thrive.

Dr. Nelson is a graduate of Harvard University and of New York University Medical School. She completed her residency at the University of Florida and has been a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1988. She has been a general pediatrician in Rutland since 1990.

She loves hiking in Vermont with her dogs. She and her husband Dave enjoyed teaching their two children to ski and snowboard and love the outdoors. She now is excited to be helping with her two grandchildren who live close by in Vermont.

Philosophy of Care

I believe in the inherent worth of all children. They are our most enduring and vulnerable legacy. Children deserve optimum health and require the highest quality health care.
