Blythe Hurlburt, RDH

Blythe Hurlburt, RDH, is a dental hygienist at Community Dental Shorewell. She specializes in working with children and periodontal treatments.

Degrees in business administration and dental hygiene and a love of pediatrics and community-based dentistry led to a career in public health and community outreach. She’s coordinated wellness and fitness programs for community organizations in New York state and managed school-based dental health programs and hospital-based dental sites. Using grant funding at a regional hospital, she coordinated the creation of a mobile dental unit that served inner-city public schools in the Albany area.

Coming from a family of chefs, Hurlburt loves to cook and entertain. She enjoys music and live concerts, is a fitness instructor and certified personal trainer, and supports community food banks, shelters, and community fundraising walks. She shares her home with her husband, son, and their three dogs –Jack Russell terriers Phineas and Emily, and a 5-year-old rescue Lab named Buddy.

Philosophy of Care

I believe in integrated healthcare, the whole body experience, and patient interaction, listening to and letting the patient be heard. The human connection is important to me. Before I begin dental care, I want to know what a patient’s needs and wants are and know where they are coming from so I can meet them where they're at and help them take ownership of their healthcare. That’s why I support and enjoy being part of Community Health’s network of community-based primary care services, medical, dental, and behavioral health – a holistic approach to healthcare.
