Medical | Pediatrics
Amy Ferguson, MD, FAAP joined Community Health Pediatrics in 2016 where she maintains a dual role as a Pediatric Hospitalist and primary care Pediatrician. She was named Rutland Regional Medical Center’s Community Primary Care Physician of the Year in 2023.
A Granite State Honors Scholar, Dr. Ferguson received a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of New Hampshire. Following this, 2 years were spent working at a school in Northern Vermont for children with autism and developmental challenges. After gaining a medical degree from the University of Vermont Medical School, she completed a pediatric residency at Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital, OHSU in Portland, Oregon. Residency highlights included contributing a chapter in a multimedia training book for pediatric medicine and volunteering for medical care at a mobile clinic for migrant workers’ children.
After residency, Dr. Ferguson moved back to Vermont where she cared for children at Springfield Pediatrics, Springfield Hospital, and Ludlow Health Clinic for 17 years before finding a home at Community Health Pediatrics, Rutland. She feels grateful to have found a compassionate and dedicated group of colleagues at Community Health and Rutland Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Ferguson enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, gardening, yoga, baking, and adventures in the mountains and lakes – often with Stella, their Goldendoodle.
Philosophy of Care
I endorse our model of pediatric care in a system that, as a team, we can be present from a child’s birth to young adulthood. With our pediatric hospitalist group embedded in Community Health Pediatrics, we attend complicated deliveries, care for newborns and manage children who are sick or injured requiring hospitalization. We follow through in the clinic with sick and wellness care. Through this we gain a holistic understanding of the child and family.
