Joe Kraus,
Joe moved to Rutland in 1980 where he spent the next 32 years working for Central Vermont Public Service. He first served as Senior Vice-President, Secretary and General Counsel and then Senior Vice-President, Operations, Engineering and Customer Service where he was responsible for 400 union and non-union employees and received numerous awards for outstanding service restoration.
Over the years Joe has served on a number of Boards including as a founding member of the Mentor Connector, The Paramount Theatre Board that conceived, designed and funded the restoration of the Theatre, the Board that designed, built and funded the Regional Fieldhouse, Project Vision, where he served as its first Chairperson, a Board Member and President of the Rutland Public Schools Foundation since its founding, The Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he Chaired the Board as well as a number of Committees, The James T. Bowse Trust, The Southwestern Vermont Chapter of Trout Unlimited and as a member of the Vermont Advisory Council of the Berkshire Bank.
Joe also played a leadership role in the public/private partnership that designed, funded and installed the artificial turf playing field at Rutland High School.
Joe is married to the love of his life, Peg, with whom he has two sons, Aaron and David. Joe’s interests include working in his son’s sugarbush, fly-fishing, traveling with his wife, Peg and spending time with his beloved granddaughter Grace.
