Community Health Named Health Center Quality Leader By Jill Jesso-White on September 15, 2020 in Community Health News $168,000 Federal Grants Awarded for Quality Improvements Rutland – Community Health has been named a Health Center Quality Leader and awarded over $168,000 in 2020 Health Center Quality Improvement Grants from the federal Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). “Our quality outcomes were better than 70% of the FQHCs in the country,” said Community Health CEO Don Reuther. “It is the essence of our mission to provide the highest quality care to our patients, and this is validation that we are doing that. It is our goal to be recognized as the undisputed leaders in quality, not only at the state and local level but nationally.” HRSA’s Quality Improvement Awards (QIA) recognize the highest performing health centers around the country and spotlight the health centers that have made significant quality improvement gains in the past year. “For 55 years, health centers have delivered affordable, accessible, and cost-effective quality primary health care to patients regardless of their ability to pay,” said James Macrae, HRSA Associate Administrator in a letter to Community Health. “Your health center’s efforts are central to advancing a model of coordinated, comprehensive, and patient-centered care serving nearly 30 million people every year,” he said. In an email to the staff, Reuther attributed the quality achievements to programs created, coordinated and implemented by the 300+ clinical and nonclinical staff members. “There is no finer example of this than our Community Health family. We cannot understate our appreciation and awe for the work that each of you does every single day. You are indeed the heart of Community Health. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to our patients!” Community Health is Vermont’s largest FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center), a network of primary care, pediatric, behavioral health, dental and pharmacy services with offices in Rutland, Brandon, Castleton, West Pawlet and Shoreham.
